The before picture.
So there it is. Enjoy. This is how the cowlick sits if I air dry my hair.
I had to go up to Osan Air Base today to take care of my eye exam. I needed documented proof that over the course of 10 years my eyesight didn’t get miraculously better. After a 15 minute exam that took 5 hours to get to I had some time to play with. Approximately 5 hours. So what to do? HAIRCUT! It’s been three weeks.
When I walk in I’m hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. I sit down in the chair and give the lady the requisite “keep it even with the beard, thin out the sides and top, trim and texturize the top”. So what happens?
I look on in stupid shock as she pulls out about six combs and starts testing them against my beard. Once she finds one that works with the length she starts trimming up those sides and back. She thins out the top and sides next, then trims up the ends. I’m still ok at this point. No shock. I’ve had that done before.
Then something miraculous happens. She starts grabbing hair and trimming just the ends at odd angles. This is the first time in Korea someone knew what I meant by texturizing without a lot of explanation and hand gestures.
I figure it’s time to try for the inside the park home run here. I’m already standing at third and the left fielder is bobbling the ball in the corner.
I point to the cowlick. The section that’s blatantly longer than the rest of the hair around it.
She narrows her eyes and picks her scissors up again.
Ten seconds later, it’s effectively gone and blended in with the rest of the hair.
Picture to follow.
